THE MANIAC'S LOVE VIBE

The day started quite early. I was ready for the meetings and the long days at work. No one was gonna put me down. Not even the mean, big bad wolf who always found fault in everything I did. I was gonna rock it. I dressed the part. A black trouser and a fitting top. I even woke up quite early (to my surprise) as I just had a hunch something bad would happen. I just didn’t know what. I took a KBS, a popular one with many early risers at this particular spot. I sat two seats behind the driver and beside the door, my favorite so that I don't bother anyone when I alighted. So I saw everyone who entered and got out. Am not an eye contact kinda person and I tend to mainly mind my own business. So I sat there and looked over the window not really paying attention to the person that sat next to me. The bus was full in minutes being a rush hour and to everyones delight, (I presumed), we were on the move.  Three to four blocs down the road, there was an a sudden gasp and a g

OF THE ROTAVIRUS VACCINE

My name is Carolyn.I live in Nairobi, Kenya and I have a passion to save kids from preventable  infections that take their young, dear lives. I strongly believe that the case of vaccination education should be a national campaign. For most of my African sisters, both living in urban and rural areas, children vaccinations are a not so important phenomena. A woman gets a child and the first thing on her mind is providing food and clothes. Granted, this is OK. Lucky for her if she can afford health insurance or gives birth in a private hospital. Many don't. And this becomes a great disaster. Woe to them who give birth at homes. And these are many women who cannot even access hospitals due to poor or no infrastructure or even mostly due to poverty. With vaccinations, many parents then opt to ignore the fact that it's a crucial component of life.   This is because most parents do not believe in the injecting of children to prevent a disease. Moreso, in taking children to hospi

BABY STEPS

Today I decided to kick my little girl out. Introduce her to the park of “wolves” and let her be bitten, probably come out as an alpha wolf, leading the pack. See, my little one is quite a neighborhood darling. A little brown kid that's forever protected from harm, this is ever since she was born. She's a gem, and there’s just something about her that attracts kids and grownups alike to her charm. Being the paranoid mother that I always been, a believer in germs and all things infectious, I have tried my best to enclose her in my natural habitat(read house arrest) of-course giving her all the essentials I believed(and Googled) she needed at her tender age. Childhood plays also supervised keenly that she may not eat a bug or get harmed as she runs. I have crammed all diseases and infections that affaects kids under 5. Am a Google professor with many degrees in all sections of medicine. My daughter though, is quite the opposite. She just lives, with no care of tomorr

LAY ME BESIDE HER

When it’s my time to leave, Do dig a big grave, For I will be having company by my side, Don’t grieve too much either Just a few tears for my good ol’ soul Read a verse and sing a merry hymn, Dance for a life well lived, Read my poems and light candles, Smile and be brave, Then lay me beside her little form, So that I hold her close again, And tell of stories of the world I had seen, The wars, the blood-shed, the famines and diseases of pests, Stories of racism, xenophobia and tribalism, Of African children that died of hunger, the floods, preventable calamities, I will pull a little history, Of Gaddaffi’s death and the unfortunate events of fought freedom, The long awaited uprising in Africa, And the liberation we lived to see. When you lay me beside her, I will tell the good tales of love, to be loved and how to love, Narratives of the sister and brother she saw not, Will tell the stories of grandma and grandpa, uncle and a

MY THREE DAY EGG DIET

Hey there, thanks for visiting my blog.  I kind of write about anything and everything. My daily escapades, things I see, experience and what I learn eventually. Hope you enjoy reading. and if you can, drop a comment too will appreciate. 😛😛 Two days ago, I decided to give my body a little change. Well, I am not the kind of person who can willingly sleep hungry. Except in very extreme cases and by which too, I would still take a bite. Well, am not a weight watch freak, but I have a bucket list to which I have to wear a particular dress, put on some particular shoes, bikini, bla bla and the list goes on. So, after constant daily research on weight loss, healthy body, very fast slimming ways, many days of self motivation and daily exercises, constant googles on drastic weight loss programs; all the time still failing, I decided enough was enough and it was time I said goodbye to the norm and couch potato thoughts. Well, reading this, it sounds a bit serious. But not q
